EXTREME HARDNESS.
ANODIZE WARRANTY INFORMATION
While Linetec warranties finishes for a specified amount of years, many more years of service life should be expected. Anodize finishes are tested in the most extreme conditions possible for adhesion, chalk, fade and gloss, the primary things warranted in a paint finish. The standard testing grounds are in south Florida where the sun, salt air and humidity are the most extreme in the country.
Linetec’s documented testing allow us to offer warranties of 5 years, on Class I Anodize finishing, with confidence that your product will perform as intended.
In some cases, with prior approval and a minimal up-charge, Linetec can offer an extended warranty up to 10 years. The anodizing warranty for Class I, (0.7 mil) clear, bronze-tones, black and copper finishes is backed by the strength of Linetec. We warrant that the finish will not chip, crack, or peel (adhesion), chalk, or color change / fade.
ANODIZE FINISHES WARRANTY COVERAGE
The following are explanations of what may be covered in a warranty and what they mean:
Adhesion
Adhesion refers to chipping, cracking or peeling of the paint from the substrate. If adhesion is going to fail, it will typically fail in the first year of its service life and the warranty will cover the issue. If the adhesion is ok from the start, it will rarely fail during the service life of the finish.
Gloss
Gloss is the reflectance of the paint or anodize finish and is measured on a scale from 0-100 units. Zero gloss is completely flat, absorbing all light, while 100 gloss reflects all light back. All finishes will lose gloss over time but some will lose faster than others.
CHALK
Chalk is a breakdown, typically caused by intense UV rays, of the resin system (the primary constituent) of the paint itself. Chalk occurs when conditions cause degradation of the resin system, as the resin breaks down it takes on a whitish, chalky appearance.
FADE
The leaching or oxidizing of pigment is known as fade. Like chalking, fading is also caused by intense UV radiation. All pigments will fade over time but the degree to which they fade depends on several properties. Very bright and exotic colors may fade faster than earthy, neutral paint coatings. Aluminum finishes that have a high resistance to fading have a low Delta E reading.
Unless a particular project is in an extreme environment, one should expect a Linetec finish to last several years beyond, and in some cases multiples of, the warranty period.
Linetec does not have control over maintenance, location, use, etc. of our finishes and for that reason, cannot issue warranties beyond a guaranteed service-life timeframe in the most extreme environments within the United States.
In order to maintain the original beauty, even these highly durable finishes need to be cleaned occasionally. When selecting a cleaning solution use mild soap solutions, avoid using strong acid or alkali cleaners as they may damage the finish. Linetec’s complete care and maintenance guide.
sample warranties
These documents provide an overview of our standard warranties available for liquid paint and anodize finishes.
Powder coat warranties are handled on a case-by-case basis, and need to be requested prior to the project being finished, to allow for manufacturer approval of any written warranty.
A complete explanation of remedies available and warranty limitations are contained in the written warranty issued for each specific job and should be carefully reviewed. For information on warranties other than our standard warranties listed below please contact us at sales@linetec.com.
